Moschino A/W 09/10

The Moschino show was all about British and Euro prep school, in contrast to the US-style look that was popular last year. The invitations and show paraphernalia referred to classic office wear, curled moustaches and smoking pipes —  evocative of surrealist painter Rene Magritte’s famous bowler-hatted men.
The clothes were ultra-formal, with Moschino’s trademark cute twists, and quintessentially British in a public school colour scheme of navy, moss green, burgundy and purple. Piping details and boating stripes could be seen on blazers and striped waistcoats, themselves reminiscent of school uniforms.
Jacket and coats were fitted strictly, with longer length coats draped over a double-breasted blazer, waistcoat and shirt.
